Two weeks in Intensive Care is not a very long time and I know watching your mother in an induced coma after
Pneumonia must be very frustrating!
It looks like she has gone into acute kidney failure if she’s on the dialysis machine!
Normally, ventilating a Patient for a Pneumonia gives the lungs time to rest and heal and it also provides extra
pressure to open up any collapsed parts of the lungs, which is often what’s happening during a Pneumonia.
They would have given your mother some antibiotics if she has a bacterial infection. If she’s still on a ventilator after about two weeks and she’s not getting better, she might have been resistant to the antibiotics or she might have a viral infection. Just keep asking why she’s still ventilated.

Next, if your mother can’t come off the ventilator and the breathing tube, she may need a tracheostomy. Hopefully they can extubate her soon after she has woken up from the induced coma.
