Quick Tip for Families in Intensive Care: Dad Died in ICU, I'm Suspecting Medical Negligence, How Much Does a Medical Record Review Cost?
Hi, it’s Patrik Hutzel from
intensivecarehotline.com with another quick tip for families in intensive care.
So, today’s tip is again a question from a reader who says,
“Hi Patrik,
I’m an RN in
Minnesota, U.S.A. My father died while receiving ICU care in the hospital. I need help doing a medical chart review and I’m interested in how much money you charge for this service. I wish I would have known about your service while he was still alive in the ICU. Thank you.
From, Jenna.”
Then I thank
you so much for your question.
Prevention is always better than doing sort of medical record reviews afterward because we have helped so many families in intensive care to
save their loved one’s life to prolong their life at the very least. You can verify that when you go to our testimonial section at intensivecarehotline.com or if you go to our podcast section and listen to some of our client interviews that we
helped to save their lives.
Anyway, how much do we charge? It really depends on the volume, i.e., the number of pages and what questions you have. So, it really depends on that. It’s probably best if you give me a number of pages and the questions that you want to have answered, and then I can give you a quote. The more pages, the more
cost-effective it will be, of course. Higher volume leads to lower prices. So, we’ve done medical record reviews ranging from 100 pages or potentially even as low as 50 pages to tens of thousands of pages. So, it’s not a one size fits all.
But also, the lesson here is don’t let it come to that point when you think, “Oh, my mom, my dad, my family member has passed away. Do I need a medical record
review?” The prevention here is to get a second opinion and get help, get consulting and advocacy right at the beginning.
The biggest challenge for families in intensive care is always that they don’t know what they don’t
know. They don’t know what to look for. They don’t know what questions to ask. They don’t know their rights and they don’t know how to manage doctors and nurses in intensive care, which is probably what’s happened here with Jenna even though you’re an RN. It sounds to me like you haven’t worked in ICU for a lengthy period, and that’s probably why you have all these questions and all these suspicions.
It’s really important that when you have a loved one in intensive care that you get consulting and advocacy right from the start to set you off on the right path so that you make informed decisions, have peace of mind, control, power, and influence so that your loved one gets best care and treatment.
That’s also one of the reasons we created a membership for families of critically ill patients in intensive care that you can get access to if you go to
intensivecarehotline.com by clicking on the membership link or by going to intensivecaresupport.org directly. In the membership, you have access to me and my team, 24 hours a day, in the membership area and via email and we answer all questions,
intensive care related.
In the membership, you also have access to 21 e-books in 21 videos that are specifically written and recorded for families in intensive care so that will help you to steer this difficult territory in order for you to make informed decisions, have peace of mind, control, power, and influence.
I also offer one-on-one consulting and advocacy of the phone, Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, whichever medium works best for you. I talk to you and your families directly. I talk to the doctors and nurses directly. Once again, I make sure you
make informed decisions, have peace of mind, control, power, and influence. Once the intensive care team knows you have someone on your team that understands intensive care just as much as they do, you would see that the dynamics change, but it does require you taking action.
We also offer medical record reviews in real time so that you can have a second opinion in real time. We also offer medical record reviews after intensive care if you have unanswered questions, if you need closure, or if you are suspecting medical negligence.
Lastly, I also represent you in family meetings with intensive care teams, once again, making sure that you make informed decisions, have peace of mind, control, power, and influence so that your loved one gets best care and treatment.
All of that, you get at intensivecarehotline.com. Call us on one of the numbers on the top of our website or
